This City Never Sleeps

Talk of the town, or should i say, the scandal of the town? TT Durai, the CEO of NKF, decided to drop their charges against SPH for slendering him. Thanks to SPH and Davinder Singh, we can have a clearer picture on how Durai splurge the public's donations on luxury cars, unnecessary furnishings, expensive publishing of flyers and leaflets and etc.

And how does NKF achieve that? Making use of sad tales of kidney patients and cancer patient and their love ones, on how they suffer, and how much money they need to pay for dialysis and etc...they abused the kindness of Singaporeans, and Singaporeans keep on throwing money into the endless pit. In the end, this endless pit (NFK's treasury) has plenty and countless of funds from the public to support the financial needs of the patients, and the pit measure for 30 years...

So that's why i will never donate a single cent to NKF. Not today, not tomorrow.

At least not for the next 30years.

While Singaporeans are in a stage of charity fatigue, thanks to the countless donations to the charities, NKF has made Singaporeans think twice before donating. In future, i would say, don't think twice. Think thrice beofre donating. Why? How clear is the transparency of the usage of donations from the public to the daily functions and operations of a charity org?

Mabey i should change my word: NKF caused charity fatigue. They bombarded Singaporeans with donation call ads on TV, claiming that one can get lucky by dialing 1900 112 XXXX, to support NKF. They make students to collect or beg for money from the public on weekends. And hey, do you still remember the times where in pri sch and sec sch, we receive envelopes from NKF, telling us to go and donate to the poor? A dirty little secret from my time: we don't bother to go around and beg for $$$. We donated $1 on the deadline.

And our work paid off: we see the truth of how NKF splurge on luxuries using donations from the public.

To add fuel to the fire, we have the beloved Mrs Goh Chok Tong, who come and tell us that : for a man who has to handle billons of dollars of funds, a annual salary of $600,000 is peanuts.

The most expensive peanut we ever had.

Mrs Goh, me, as a S'pore PR, i have to say: i am SHAME on YOU! Can you imagine how many people slogged thru hell to earn that $600,000? How many people can earn $600,000 in their lifetime? And how many people can bring home an annual income of $600,000 per year?

If you think $.06 M is peanuts, please, stop going those parties for the high status. Please take a good look how many S'poreans are living in unthinkable conditions. How many people broke their bones for a sack of rice?

I am UTTERLY SHAME AND DISAPPOINTED ON WHAT YOU SAID. PLEASE, YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE A WIFE OF MR GOH CHOK TONG.

Please take a good look on how many are still suffering from low pays.

Moral of this scandal: 1. NKF caused charity fatigue. 2. We do not need to donate to NKF for the next 30 years. 3. If we need to help the needys, we help them directly. Skip the middleman. 4. Mrs Goh need to do some soul searching for what she said.

Cos not everyone had the opportunity to enjoy high end games and luxuries every week.

Somewhere around the corner in the city lies a man with some past...
