This City Never Sleeps
Saturday, January 26, 2008 @ The Quail's Egg and the tale of Cautionary Lust
So before Remy the rat cooks a reunion dinner for every family in around 2 weeks time, this week, apart from having Catherine Zeta-Jones cooking for her loved ones and Jodie Foster prowling around the streets of New York with guns for revenge, we have the arrival of a tale of cautionary lust which Singaporeans love and hate. But the thing is, they are now available for rental or sale from your friendly neighbourhood video stores.
Yes yes. Ang Lee's Lust, Caution is on sale on home video in Singapore. But don't get too delighted too early. You can forget about seeing the steamy scenes between Tony Leung and Tang Wei that stirs a big hoo haa here for cutting it off in the China edit. As for the DVD, it is the plain o' vanilla edition with Mand, Thai and Melayu/Indonesian subtitles. No bonus features...
And i just couldn't imagine that the Made in S'pore DVD can be retailed at the price of a freaking $30.
But that doesn't affect me much, cos my colleague brought me the HK IMPORT directly from HK on Mon!!! Yeah, the moment i saw the DVD, i almost freaked out...
For HK$150, i get a 2 DVD edition with bonus features, with interviews in Eng, making of, galleries, trailers and TV spots in Cantonese. But sad to say, no English subtitles provided.
At least, i don't have to pay a visit to Golden again if i wanted to watch Lust again...
And to sweeten up the week of a tale of cautionary lust, the Quail's egg is in Singapore. For the sake of those who have never watched Lust before, Quail's egg refers to the 6 Carat Diamond ring that Tony Leung bought for Tang Wei, which eventually costs the lives of 6 people.
And here is the Quail's Egg...

The Quail's Egg aka the pink diamond ring was designed by Cartier, and will be on display from now till 10 Feb at Cartier Ngee Ann City. After that, it will be send to US and Tang Wei will be wearing the ring to attend the Oscar's Ceremony this year. And after the ceremony (and if you did not have the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the ring), it will be put on permanent display at Cartier museum in Paris. The ring will not be re-produced due to high cost (app S$6 million to made the ring, where if you were to compared with the lives of the 6 poor fellas who attemp to assassinate Mr Yee in the story, it works out to be S$1 million/ live. ) and this ring was made specially for the movie.

Wang Chia Chi (Tang's role in the movie) was right. She said: I do not want to wear something so precious and expensive and walk around the street. Give me that S$6 million and i will get myself an apartment, a posh car and a high life till i die, rather than taking the risk of getting robbed or killed (in a robbery.)

Goodbye The Sad and Lonely 2007!
Welcome 2008!!! With a BIG BANG!!!

The last few hours of 2007 is definitely worth celebrating. Like what my friend says, 2008 is the year they ORD. To me, 2008 is definitely more than getting back your IC after fufill your duty for the nation for 2 years.

2008 means...
1. Look for a job i desire
2. Earn loads of $$$
3. Be healthy.
4. Afford a California Fitness membership?
5. Finally independent?
6. Found my other half?
7. Further my studies. (Yeah no kidding. I've missed the good ol' days in TP, where i have to serve the nation shortly while i am still in the mood of graduation. To the girls, 2006 graduation was so yesterday.)
My last 6 hours of 2007:
6pm: went to Gramophone Cathay with Lawrence to get rid of some old VCDs n CDs for cash. The old must be removed to invite the new.
6.30pm: had chicken sausage bun and coffee+tea with chilli beef fries with Lawrence. Do not want him to faint halfway due to hunger (for dinner starts late)
7pm: Walked towards PS for window shopping, and wait for Jess's arrival.

8pm: Surprisingly, i got 2 ladies arriving for the party: Jess and Lawrence's dear. Dinner after next.

9pm: Walked towards Cathay for a countdown party, with free flow of Asahi beer and Candy floss.

10pm: aw...Jess had to leave for another party...Nevertheless, the trio (me, Lawrence n his dear) had free flow of Asahi and candy floss for the party...which was held at a tentage located outside The Cathay. 11pm: Endless serving of Asahi beer, candy floss, hip-hop dance and getting wild!

11.55pm: 5 mins to 2008!

12mn: When the clock strikes 12, i feel light and relieve! Welcome 2008!

12.30am: We left the place with high spirits...And it seems that we are a bit drunk too...

12.45am: City Hall MRT Station was packed with crowds from the Marina Bay fireworks...We could only managed to get in after several push and pull for few minutes...

1.45am: Home Sweet Home...

Lastly, to all the readers, a Very Happy and Successful 2008... and

'In the spirit of Heaven and Earth' - Zhuang Zi.

A Very Spritual and Mentally Healthy 2008. :)

Somewhere around the corner in the city lies a man with some past...
