This City Never Sleeps
Friday, March 21, 2008 @ A Very Good Friday
Have not updated the blog for more than a month. Well, work's dead tiring.

To sum up what happens for the past few weeks...

1. Been coughing with headache for 2 weeks, and later ends up throat gets irritated easily, which could end with a nearly fatal breathless situation. Seen a doctor for 4 times, and i was given the same answer: excessive flow of stomach acid in gastric. Taken the pills for weeks and still no improvement.

2. Can't get the tickets to 9th Apr screening of Todd Hayne's I'm Not There, which will only be screened during Singapore International Film Fest. Don't understand why GV is not bringing in the movie for a limited release, and ends up in 1 show only in a film fest. Well the popularity of the film (Gay director Haynes has no problem drawing gay crowds, with Cate Blanchette playing a role of a guy, having Christine Bale and Richard Gere playing different stages of the live of Bob Dylan, not forgetting that this is Heath Ledger's 2nd last film before he left the world earlier this year.) leads to increase of seats, but still don't think will get it, since it is about 1st 6 rows from the screen. Opt for the DVD instead in June.

3. Gone DVD shopping at Video Ezy Warehouse sale located at SAFRA Toa Payoh. Was rather annoyed with Video Ezy's attitude and service for the sale. If you take a look at the sale, there were displays of movie posters of latest films on DVD (28 Weeks Later, Rouge Assassin, Resident Evil 3, Simpsons Movie )and upcoming release (Dan in Real Life, Reservation Road, Love in Times of Cholera), but you don't get them. They are not included on the warehouse sale. Worst still, when i asked the sales assistant on the availbility of titles, another told this fella: You don't have to look for them. What's available is available.' Unsurprisingly, Singapore really needs to buck up on the customer service if such attitude goes on.

This is my wanted shopping list:
1. The Brave One
2. Minority Report 2 DVD pack
3. Jet Li 2-in-1 DVD pack (Romeo Must Die + Cradle 2 the Grave)
4. Little Children
5. The Simpsons Movie
6. Daywatch
7. Batman Begins
8. Lions for Lambs

This is what i got:
1. Batman Begins
2. Stanley Kubrick 4-in-1 pack (Barry Lyndon, Lolita, 2001: A Space Odysseys, Documentary on the life and the movies of Kubrick, narrated by Tom Cruise)
3. Once Upon a Time in America (directed by the late Sergio Leone, starring Robert De Niro in this close to 4 hr Godfather Pt 2 like epic drama.)
4. The Prestige
5. Blood Diamond
6. Fur: Imaginary Potrait of Diane Arbus
7. Enduring Love (a 2004 British thriller from Daniel Craig on his pre-James Bond days.)

Total cost for the DVDs spend: $69.

A very different experience that i had, compared to last year's warehouse sale at Ubi Industrial Park.

Oh yes, i am getting a new phone tomorrow. Wonder what will i get tomorrow.

Somewhere around the corner in the city lies a man with some past...
